Burberry: a So British brand

The luxury house Burberry was born in England in 1856. Thomas Burberry had problems with rheumatism. He therefore went to a doctor who advised him to no longer wear his rubber raincoat. As a young designer, he had an innovative and clever idea: he invented a waterproof and ventilated rain coat using gabardine, a rain-resistant fabric that was ventilated and protected from the cold. He filed a patent for this new fabric in 1888. That's when the famous cult Burberry trench coat was born! The trench coat was such a success that the Minister of Defense asked the young designer to design the future uniforms of British officers. It was from this invention that the House began to become known. In 1924, another creation was created: the famous white, black and camel Scottish tartan.
