Where does this Hawaiian Black Salt come from?
Hawaiian black salt is the result of a combination of sea salt and black lava rock, which is rich in activated charcoal. In the past, rainwater running down the slopes of volcanoes carried pieces of lava to the Hawaiian coast, where the salt was harvested. This natural process of mixing saltwater and lava resulted, after evaporation, in black salt crystals.
