THE CREATION

With the eau de toilette A Garden Under the Sea, Christine Nagel, perfumer at Hermès, answers the call of the open sea and invites you to discover an unexpected garden. A distant getaway in Polynesia, on the island of Taha'a. An unspoiled place where mountains and reefs, plants and corals coexist in perfect harmony.  

THE AROMATIC NOTES

Floral and musky, the eau de toilette A Garden Under the Sea combines a radiant tiare flower with the enveloping richness of tamanu nut and the mineral notes evocative of a coral reef.

THE PURPOSE

Designed by Fred Rawyler, the iconic bottle of Hermès is inspired by the lines of vintage car headlights. Its blue gradient reflects the azure sky and the crystal-clear waters of the Taha’a lagoon. On the case, watercolor illustrations by artist Aino-Maija Metsola capture this coral reef teeming with life and color.

THE HERMÈS DETAIL

For each Parfum-Jardin, the House invites an artist to illustrate the packaging with poetic flair, giving them free rein to express the essence of that garden through their artwork.
"Drawing is everything at Hermès, and it all starts with the sketch," says Pierre-Alexis Dumas, creative director at Hermès.

The bottles A Garden Under the Sea 100 ml, 50 ml, or 30 ml bottles can be refilled using the 200 ml refill, sold separately.
